A Traveller`s First Impression
My First Impressions of Lawrence
It was interesting to know by visiting the Kansas Museum that Kansas played such an important role in major historical events of the United States such as the World War I /II and the aid in the war to free Cuba from the Spanish. Also, it was interesting to know that women played an intensive role in building and modeling Kansas State, in special Lawrence. Therefore, women like Mrs. Mary Jane Ward and Emily Mead influenced this society`s ideas and beliefs. Also, the trip to Old Prairie Town enriched me a lot also, I learned that Dr. Lucy became the first licensed woman dentist, after three months of studying.
Other interesting character in Lawrence`s history are John Brown and Paul Revere. Finally, it was curious to know that inventions like the “Iron hair Sticker” or “Iron Tong”, the use of the X- ray already existed.
Finally, of all the fruitful experiences that I was dragged into in Lawrence, Kansas, by far serving the unseen richness in people`s humanity, feeding the hope of a life`s traveler and quenching the thirst of one man`s dry soul at the Jubilee Café is no doubt the most pleasing of all acts I did indeed.
Finally, I believe that if teachers, politicians, doctors and all humans approached with more care the amazing variety of minds and hearts like a gardener that plows, waters and sows with love the earth or approaches a butterfly in silent just to see the splendor of all its color (without wanting to touch or improve it), surely the world would have soil for the fast or the slow, for the autistic an d the extroverted, for the artistic and the scientific. After all, isn`t the main purpose of teaching to create and environment to fit all in a collaborative, cooperative and urban way?
